Tooting & Mitcham United Football Club is a football club based in the London Borough of Merton. Since October 2018 as part of a Football Foundation pilot, the club has been using our Software package.

Tooting & Mitcham Football Club have enjoyed the dynamic process of uploading multiple slots to the calendar and adjusting the custom and seasonal pricing. The subscription to the Bookteq Software package also saw the club benefit from integration with Playfinder being marketed to their large user base.

Tooting & Mitcham United’s 1st XI play in the Isthmian South Central Division, who offer a fantastic spectacle for the local community most weekends. The club plays a vital role in keeping the community active by making its facilities available to book online. Despite the facilities playing a vital role, Venue Manager Jackie Watkins felt the Club could further maximise the use of the fantastic facilities on offer. Having taken on the Bookteq Software package and the integration with the Playfinder marketplace, Tooting & Mitcham haven’t looked back.

Since the partnership in 2018, Jackie explained: “As a community club who specialises in Health, Education, Sport and Enterprise using Playfinder has helped us reach out to new people and take the strain out of pitch booking.”

As well as the stadium pitch hire, Bookteq also manage:

  • 11-a-side all-weather 3G pitch (made up 6% of all bookings)
  • 7-a-side all-weather 3G pitch (made up 94% of all bookings)

Increasing the utilisation rate of spaces and facilities

Tooting & Mitcham witnessed utilisation increases rapidly through operating with Bookteq Software. The overall utilisation rate increase was 29%.

In comparative quarters, utilisation went from 65% in Q4 2018 to 89% in Q4 2019. Utilisation bolstered from 59% in Q1 2019 to 92% in Q1 of 2020.

Speaking about how using Bookteq helped them to increase utilisation, Jackie Watkins said “The Playfinder booking system has provided us with a great tool to manage our bookings and easily sell our available slots – they have found us new customers and increased our pitch utilisation.”

Booking behaviour and habits

As a result of the Playfinder partnership, Tooting & Mitcham were able to increase the number of casual bookings made via online calendars to 41%. The club now has a more even split between regular block bookers and casual bookers. Block bookings make up 55% of all bookings, while casual bookings are at 45%.

Tooting & Mitcham’s search engine presence has also improved. They now rank #1 for ‘football pitches in Tooting’ and #1 for ‘football pitches in Mitcham’ on Google.
